A great chance to discover the northern highlights of Vietnam, using four kinds of transportation modes – train, sail, drive and walk. :)

The seven days vacation will take you from the quiet mountains of Sapa to the UNESCO World heritage site of Halong Bay. Explore Sapa hilltribe villages and mingle with colourful ethnic minorities in Sapa. Cruise Halong Bay on a junk, savour delicious food on deck, swim amid stunning karst scenery. Finally, we bring you to the tranquil rural scenery of Ninh Binh where you take a boat ride to visit cave complex.

Not forgetting the exotic flavors of Vietnam food where local guide will bring you on a walking tour to sample hawker street delights and local specialities.

This trip does it all…for those who love a little trek, or those who love cruising or those who love interacting with ethnic minorities. You will be sure to be kept fascinated everyday soaking in the atmosphere.



Day 1: Arrive at Hanoi

Upon arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport, our guide and driver will welcome you and transfer you to Hanoi.

After checking in the hotel we embark on a cyclo for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. Rest of the day is free at your leisure to discover this fascinating city.

We have dinner at a local restaurant before boarding our night train to Lao Cai at 8.30pm.

Day 2: Short Trek to Lao Chai – Ta Van Villages

The train arrives in Lao Cai at about 6:00am where our guide will welcome you. Then take a morning drive through the clouds by car to the beautiful town of Sapa (about 1.5 hours).

At an elevation of 1500 meters, Sapa was founded in the early years of the last century as a hill resort for French administrators in summer time. Just soak up the fresh climate by spending our time exploring this famous hill town. The ethnic people are frequently seen on the main street of Sapa and small vendors along the street selling local textiles and handicraft.

After breakfast at a local restaurant, we start with a beautiful hike through the breath-taking scenery of Sa Pa valley. Start by road that descends in the wake of the street Cau May (6 km). En route, admire the rice terraces hidden behind mist of the morning, a truly awe-inspiring sight. Our guide will take you for a short walk along buffalo paths and trails through several hill tribe villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, home to H’mong, and Dzay people. This is a absolutely spectacular walk through stunning scenery inhabited by some of the friendliest people you can meet.

Day 3: Bac Ha Market, overnight train back to Hanoi

Get up early for breakfast and then transferred to Bac Ha market (3 hours drive). Bac Ha market, located in the heart of Bac Ha small town is the largest one in the area. Every Sunday, the different and colorful ethnic minority gather here to sell their homemade products or buy something for the family. They are Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay or Nung minorities. Some of these ethnic minorities can’t be met in any other areas.

Just before reaching the market we will see colorful activity. Beautiful Flower Hmong people carrying hand-crafted products or pulling dogs or buffalos, all on their way to the market. You are free to wonder around the market and become a part of the trading activities. Try some typical “Thang Co” at one of the market stalls for a traditional taste.

In the afternoon we depart for the Lao Cai train station. We have dinner here before boarding the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 4: Halong Bay Cruise, overnight in Junk

Early arrival in Hanoi at 5.30am, we check in a hotel nearby train station, have breakfast and take a few hour rest before our guide and driver pick you up for a 3 hour journey to Halong Bay.

We will reach Ha Long City around noon time and will transfer to cruise ship. Board Halong Poseidon Sail with welcome drink, check-in registration. Thereafter, enjoy lunch on the boat where you will be satisfied by many kinds of seafood.

After lunch, cruise through the emerald water between the limestone outcrops and long corridors. En route, you have chances to sightsee many beauty spots of the world nature heritage including Fighting Cock islet, Incense Urn islet, Finger island, Toad islet, dog islet, Dragon, Horse Neck, Buffalo Head islet and many other strangel-shaped islands.

The highlight of the cruise will be to explore the mystery of Sung Sot Cave (the cave of Surprise).

In the evening, cruise to Titop beach and you can enjoy swimming (if the weather permit) or walk up to the top of Titop for a spectacular view of the bay. If you wish, you can also kayaking before having fresh seafood dinner in the romantic sunset. After dinner, it is free time for you and you can take part in cuttlefish contest and enjoy fresh cuttlefish.

Day 5: Halong Bay Cruise – Hanoi, Water Puppetry Performance

If you would like to witness Halong Bay’s sunrise, please get up early before 6.00am.  After breakfast, cruise towards Bai Tu Long Bay for pristine scenery. Stop for breathtaking swim if time permit.

Around lunch time, cruise back to Halong City for lunch at Thang Long restaurant, followed by a road trip back to Hanoi with stop-over in Hai Duong province.

We will arrive in Hanoi around 4pm – 4.30pm. The evening is free for your own activities. You can also join in for an optional performance of traditional water puppetry (USD5 per person).

Day 6: Trang An Grottoes and Bai Dinh Pagoda – Hanoi Food Street Walking

At 8am, our guide and driver pick you up for a 3 hour journey to Ninh Binh. After a three hours journey, we arrived at Buddha Prayer place in Bai Dinh Pagoda, the biggest pagoda in Vietnam with 500 La Han statues, biggest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam with 10 meters in height, 100 tons in weight.

We will have lunch in local restaurant with some local special dishes such as Goat meat with elderberry, pork… etc.

After lunch, depart to visit Trang An Eco-Tourism area. Trang An Eco-Tourism complex is a home of 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna that many of them in the Red book of Vietnam. It is also a gathering of 31 valleys, 48 cross-water caves. Take a rowing boat to visit cave complex: Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou in mystery and wildness, see scenery of mountain and rivers. Trang An is considered as Ha Long on the land.

In the evening, return to Hanoi where we take a walk through Hanoi’s Old Quarter street markets with a local guide who’s passionate about food. Discover the exotic flavors of Vietnam with fellow food-lovers. Sample fruit, hawker street food and local specialties like pork crepes, and visit Hanoi’s largest covered market, Dong Xuan.

Day 7: Departure

Today is your departure day. You have free time on your own until transfer to Hanoi airport for the flight home.
