This trek will show you a glimpse of what Nepal can offer to entice you to come back for more. It will take you far away from the road and right into the heart of the mountains, offering you splendid mountain scenary no matter where you are. This is the real adventure trek for ALL having passion of walking in the Himalayas as this trek will bring you to do not one, but three base camps. A truly rewarding experience that you will not want to miss. It is time to put on your trekking boots!

 

Itinerary 

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu [1,400m]

  • ThamelArrival in Kathmandu and pick-up by our representative from the airport.
  • Check into hotel and refresh yourself. The rest of the day is free and easy for you to soak in the bustling atmosphere at Thamel.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Flight to Lukla [2,800m] – Trek to Phakding [2,652m]

  • Trek Day 1: Walking time: 3 hours. Net elevation loss: 1480m
  • Lukla AirportWake up early to catch the 45 mins domestic flight to Tenzing and Hillary Airport at Lukla (2,800m), the gateway to all the treks in Khumbu region.** luggage max weight: 15kg
  • Upon arrival, meet your trekking crew and proceed for breakfast.
  • After breakfast, begin your 3-hour trek to Phakding.
  • The trek starts with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi River, passing through the many lucky prayers stones and prayer flags. (Dudh means ‘milk’ – the waters of the river are a strong milky white from glacial melt.)
  • Take an easy walk passing through Chaurikharka village.
  • The trail follows the bank of the Dudh Koshi River until Phakding (2,652m) where you will be staying overnight today.
  • Overnight in Phakding.

Day 3: Phakding – Namche Bazaar [3,440m]

  • Trek Day 2: Walking time: 5 hours. Net elevation gain: 748m
  • Namche BazaarAfter breakfast, we will begin our trek to Namche Bazaar today.
  • Cross the Dudh Koshi River at the end of Phakdingma over a long suspension bridge and enjoy great views of the snow-capped peaks of Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and Thamserku (6623m).
  • After about 2 hours of walk, you will reach the village of Monjo (2,835m).
  • Thereafter a short descent to the Dudh Koshi River again before reaching Jorsale (2,805m).
  • Cross two bridges before beginning the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. A slow and steady pace is recommended on this section of the climb and you are encouraged to make the most of the fantastic photographic opportunities as the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Taweche come into view for the first time.
  • After the ascent, you will be rewarded with a good night rest at Namche Bazaar, the main trading centre of this region.
  • Overnight in Namche Bazaar (3,440m).

Day 4: Acclimatisation Hike from Namche Bazaar to Syangboche [3,780m]

  • Trek Day 3: Walking time: 5 hours
  • View from SyangbocheAfter breakfast, take a steep climb out of the village bowl to the flatter areas around and above Syangboche.
  • Hike to Syangboche Airport (3,700m), the supposed highest airport in the world.
  • Continue climbing to Mt. Everest View Hotel for great panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Tawache, Peak 38, Thamserku, etc.
  • On the way back, you can take a detour to Khumjung Village and visit the Khumjung Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery.
  • Back to guesthouse for lunch and after lunch you can take a walk in Namche Bazaar.
  • Stay at Namche Bazaar for a second night to allow proper acclimatisation to the high altitude.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar – Tengboche [3,860m]

  • Trek Day 4: Walking time: 5 hours. Net elevation gain: 420m
  • Tengboche MonasteryThe route today weaves in and out of side valleys, small ups and downs, to the teashops of Kenjoma, and joins the trail from Khumjung just before a collection of mani stones.
  • The views of Everest and Ama Dablam are excellent from this part of the trek.
  • Pass the small settlement of Sanasa from where the trail drops towards Phunki Thanga (3,250m).
  • From here the trail climbs steeply through forests as it follows the side of a hill. The view from here is deemed to be one of the world’s most magnificent. Kwangde (6,187m), Tawachee (6,542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8,501m), Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku provide an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants.
  • You can attend the chanting at Tengboche Monastery in the late afternoon.
  • Overnight in Tengboche village.

Day 6: Tengboche – Dingboche [4,410m]

  • Trek Day 5: Walking time: 6 hours. Net elevation gains: 550m
  • Approaching DingbocheDownhill from Tengboche via dense forest of Rhododendron, Juniper and Birch trees. The trail is then gradual flat and then downhill till we cross Imja Khola River.
  • Climb gradual uphill circumbulating picturesque chorten before reaching the village of Pangboche (3,900m).
  • From Pangboche, the route enters alpine meadows above the tree line, mostly consisting of scrub juniper and tundra.
  • Start walking on the ridges along up the Imja Khola River, through Shomare village.
  • Cross Imja Khola River and start walking gradual uphill in the rough trail before arriving in Dingboche (4,410m), known as the ‘summer valley’.
  • This is the best valley to be, to feel in the lap of the beautiful mountains of Ama Dablam, Kantega and other peaks.
  • Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 7: Dingboche – Chhukung Ri [5,550m] – Chhukung [4,730m]

  • Trek Day 6: Walking time: 6 hours. Net elevation gain: 320m
  • Chhukung ValleyToday, you will take a hike up to Chhukung Ri (5,550m). The hike will take around 3 hours up and down.
  • The summit offers splendid panoramic view of Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Island Peak, Peak 38, Pumori, Lobuche Peak, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Amphu Lapcha, Baruntse, Makalu, Cholaste, Tawache, Thamsheku, Kongde Ri and many more unnamed peaks.
  • Descend to Chhukung village to rest for the day.

Day 8: Chhukung – Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m) – Chhukung – Dingboche

  • Trek Day 7: Walking time: 10 hours. Net elevation loss: 320m
  • Approaching LobucheThe trek to Island Peak Base Camp is on a fairly steep trail.
  • First, climb south then turn east to the main line of the valley. Then walk on a winding path below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier. Next, continue walking on a pleasant trail along a streamside. A crisscross route through the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines leads to a wide valley flanking the South-west side of Island Peak (5,200m).
  • Congratulations on reaching Island Peak Base Camp!
  • After reaching Island Peak Base Camp, turn back and retrace the route back to Chhukung village and back to Dingboche.
  • Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 9: Dingboche – Lobuche [4,910m]

  • Trek Day 8: Walking time: 5 hours. Net elevation gain: 500m
  • PumoriFrom Dingboche, ascend the small ridge behind the village above Pheriche Valley.
  • From the chorten at the top, the peaks of Taweche and Cholatse (6,440m) dramatically line the valley to the west. To the north, Lobuche Peak (6,119m) and the snowfields of the Cho La can be seen.
  • At Thukla (4,620m), take a light lunch at the foot of the huge moraines of Khumbu Glacier, which has flowed off Ever est. Climb steadily to reach a ridge with a line of memorial cairns, built in memory of Sherpas and other climbers who have died on various Everest expeditions over the last 50 years.
  • Approaching LobucheFrom here the view is spectacular – Pumori (7,145m), Lingtren (6,697m), Khumbutse (6,623m), and, across the border in Tibet, Changtse (7,550m) can be seen at the head of the valley, whilst Everest is hidden behind the towering walls of Nuptse and Lhotse.
  • Follow the valley stream to you lodge at Lobuche, arriving early afternoon.
  • Overnight in Lobuche

Day 10: Lobuche – Gorak Shep [5,180m] – Everest Base Camp [5,400m] – Gorak Shep

  • Approaching Gorak ShepTrek Day 9: Walking time: 7 hours. Net elevation gain: 270m
  • The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal.
  • A small ascent would take us to Thangma Riju from where we perceive 360 degree vista of snowy mountains.
  • Climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, you will catch your first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath Mt. Pumori. As we reach Gorak Shep (5,180m), you will find snow-capped mountains looming all around you including the top of the world – Mt. Everest.
  • Everest Base CampAfter a brief lunch and rest, take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake.
  • There is not much elevation gain, but there are a lot of ups and downs and, combined with altitude, this can be a tiring portion- but the journey is worth it.
  • After approximately 3 hrs of hiking, you will arrive at Everest Base Camp (5,400m) and enjoy views of the Khumbu Glacier and icefall.
  • Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. Everest actually is not visible from here.
  • Congratulations on reaching Everest Base Camp!
  • After which, trek back to Gorak Shep and take a deserving rest over the night.
  • Overnight at Gorak Shep.

Day 11: Gorak Shep – Kala Patthar [5,545m] – Gorak Shep – Pheriche [4,280m]

  • Sunrise at Kala PattharTrek Day 10: Walking time: 7 hours. Net elevation loss: 900m
  • Start early in the morning to catch the dramatic views from Kala Patthar witnessing the first light of day shining on Mount Everest.
  • Get prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature (-10 to -14 C) departure beforehand. Further, there is always the potential for chilly wind which is quite common.
  • During the ascent to Kala Patthar, catch your breath at several outstanding viewpoints to snap pictures.
  • After several hours of the ascent, you will reach Kala Patthar (5,545m).
  • From this juncture, scramble to climb the rocky outcrop near to the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. PhericheAs you reach the top, sit on Kala Patthar where your eyes take in unbelievable Himalayan panorama, wandering from one mighty massif to another.
  • Return to Gorak Shep for breakfast before descending to Pheriche (4,280m) for a good night’s rest.
  • Overnight in Pheriche.

Day 12: Pheriche – Pangboche [3,900m]

  • To PangbocheTrek Day 11: Walking time: 2 hours. Net elevation loss: 380m
  • After breakfast, take your time to descend to Pangboche.
  • Today is a short trek and you will reach Pangboche before lunch time.
  • Enjoy the day as you get to rest your tired legs after many days of hard trek.

Day 13: Pangboche – Ama Dablam Base Camp [4,500m] – Pangboche

  • To Ama Dablam Base CampTrek Day 12: Walking time: 5 hours
  • After breakfast, head downhill to cross a bridge at upper Imjatse River.
  • Thereafter, it is ascend all the way until Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,500m) going through meadow, yak herds, sheep farm and camping stops.
  • In clear weather, it will be stunningly spectacular uphill where you will get to see the majestic Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Kantega and many more peaks. This is a route where most people don’t come, so you will get the world to yourself, the best feeling you can imagine.
  • Congratulations on reaching Ama Dablam Base Camp!
  • Ama Dablam Base CampTake a break at a local guesthouse and have coffee/tea.
  • Head back to Pangboche where you will rest for the day.

Day 14: Pangboche – Tengboche – Namche Bazaar

  • To Namche BazaarTrek Day 13: Walking time: 5 hours. Net elevation loss: 460m
  • Today is a much easier walk down to the lower altitudes.
  • From Pangboche, retrace our footsteps down to the Imja Khola and up through the forest to Debuche.
  • After Tengboche, continue through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees.
  • You will reach Phunki Tanga where you can have a short break and have some tea or coffee.
  • After some rest, cross the prayer flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and the trail then descend rapidly through the pine forests, eventually reaches Sansa.
  • Namche BazaarAfter passing a chorten, you will reach Namche Bazaar.
  • Upon reaching your lodge, take a nice hot shower and celebrate the achievement of reaching 3 base camps – Island Peak Base Camp, Everest Base Camp and Ama Dablam Base Camp.
  • Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 15: Namche Bazaar – Lukla

  • Trek Day 14: Walking time: 6 hours. Net elevation loss: 640m
  • LuklaToday, you will retrace the same route as you came from.
  • Note: You can get the Certificate of Completion at Namche Check post.
  • Descend steeply from Namche Bazaar to Jorsale, through the jungle and rough trail and then walk to village of Monjo through river bank.
  • Cross long suspension bridges and then gradual up and down to Phakding. The trail becomes more level and natural.
  • Have lunch at Phakding before the final ascent to Lukla.
  • Upon arrival in Lukla, you can stretch those sore legs and recall the experience of a fantastic trek!
  • Overnight in Lukla.

Day 16: Lukla – Fly to Kathmandu

  • Flight from Lukla to KathmanduToday, you will fly back to Kathmandu after a long mountain journey.
  • The early morning flight drops you in Kathmandu.
  • The rest of the day is free and easy for you to enjoy Kathmandu. If you are interested to take some gifts home from Nepal for friends and relatives, venture out to Thamel for typical Nepalese goods.
  • Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Departure for Singapore
