A visit to Peru will not be completed without visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu. Discovered in 1911, Machu Picchu is often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”. Perched high up in the Andes of Peru at 2,430 m, it is so well-hidden that escaped even the prying eyes of the Spanish conquerors!

As such, it is very well-preserved and has the most impressive set of ruins in the world. Join us on this tour to unveil the history of Machu Picchu and see this famous landmark of Peru for yourself. Itinerary

Day 1 (22 Apr): Depart Singapore – Lima (Peru)Lima Main Square

  • Depart Singapore for our international flight to Lima.
  • Upon arrival, meet up with our Lima representative.
  • Transfer to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Lima.

Day 2 (23 Apr): Lima – Arequipa – City Tour in Arequipa Plaza de Armas de Arequipa

  • Depart Lima for our domestic morning flight to Arequipa.
  • Upon arrival, meet up with our Arequipa’s representative.
  • Transfer to our hotel.
  • Begin afternoon private city tour.
  • Visit the Cathedral, one of Peru’s most famous colonial cathedrals since the Spanish conquest.
  • Visit La Compania Church, a representative monument of the 17th century religious architecture built in 1573.
  • Visit San Ignacio Cupola, a very beautiful church with exquisite interior cupola.
  • Visit Santa Catalina’s Monastery, a monastery of nuns which accepted only women from upper class Spanish families in the past.
  • Overnight in Arequipa.

Day 3 (24 Apr): Arequipa – Colca CanyonChivay

  • Depart Arequipa  and move towards Chivay where Colca Canyon is located.
    • Estimated driving time: 4 hours
  • Go through awesome views of the landscape and get to see the volcanoes of Misti, Chachani and Ampato.
  • Get to observe llamas, alpacas, vicunas and Andean birds along the way too.
  • Upon arrival at Chivay, visit the Main Square and enjoy our lunch.
  • After lunch, we can have the following optional activities:
    • Visit the hot springs
    • Hike in the canyon
  • Transfer to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Colca Canyon.

Day 4 (25 Apr): Colca Canyon – Puno

  • Colca ValleyBegin morning guided tour of beautiful Colca Canyon.
  • First stop to the famous Cruz del Condor point to observe the impressive Andean condor flying in its natural habitat.
  • Along the way, visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and the Antahuilque Viewpoint, where wonderful 1,500 year old terraces, constructed by the Collaguas, a culture well before the Incas’ time, can be observed.
  • Visit Choquetico with its hanging tombs “Tumbas colgantes”, and take a look at the litomaqueta, a model of the canyon terraces carved in a rock.
  • Visit Maca, an Andean community that experienced an earthquake in Nov 1991.
  • Visit Yanque with the most beautiful church in the valley.
  • Return to Chivay for lunch.
  • After lunch, travel through Peru’s high plain to Puno.
  • Upon arrival at Puno, transfer to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Puno.

Day 5 (26 Apr): Puno – Uros and Taquile Islands

  • Lake TiticacaEarly in the morning, begin our unforgettable boat tour of Lake Titicaca.
  • First stop will be a visit to the floating islands of the Uros where the people have lived since pre-Inca times. These floating islands are built out of reeds.
  • Next stop will be to the natural island, Taquile, occupied by Quechua speakers who are skilful in magnificent textile techniques.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Back to Puno in the early evening.
  • Overnight in Puno.

Day 6 (27 Apr): Puno – Cusco

  • CuscoAfter breakfast, begin our tourist bus trip to Cusco.
    • Estimated driving time: 8 hours
  • First stop will be to the town of Pukara, ruins of the fortifications made by the natives of the central Andean cultures.
  • Next, we will visit the city of Sicuani, where we will enjoy a typical buffet style lunch.
  • After lunch, we will visit the Inca archaeological site of Raqchi which is also known as the Temple of Wirakocha because of its iconic buildings.
  • Lastly, we will visit the church of Andahuaylillas, nicknamed “the Sistine Chapel of America” because of its exquisite frescos that adorn its walls.
  • Arrive in Cusco in the early evening.
  • Upon arrival, meet up with our Cusco’s representative.
  • Transfer to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Cusco.

Day 7 (28 Apr): Cusco – City Tour in Cusco

  • SacsayhuamanRest and relax in the morning.
  • Begin afternoon city tour at around 1:30 pm.
  • Visit Ooricancha, also known as the “Temple of the Sun”, which was dedicated to worship the sun (Inti) and was at times filled with gold.
  • Visit the Cathedral, the most imposing monument on the main square.
  • Tour of Sacsayhuaman, a huge and impressive fortress of colossal constructions.
  • Continue our adventure to an Inca shrine, Qenqo, a sacrificial altar embedded inside a rock cave.
  • Lastly, arrive at the Puca Pucara Viewpoint and Tambomachay, monument of impressive architectonic knowledge considered as one of the pillars of Andean Cosmo vision.
  • Back to the hotel in the evening.
  • Overnight in Cusco.

Day 8 (29 Apr): Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas – OllantaytamboOllantaytambo

  • Depart after breakfast for the guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
  • Observe an amazing view of the Urubamba River and the valley.
  • Visit the colonial town and Inca site of Pisac, one of the most beautiful Inca archaeological sites of the Sacred Valley.
  • Visit Pisac market to get some souvenirs for your loved ones and friends.
  • After lunch, begin the guided tour of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to the valley.
  • Transfer to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Sacred Valley.

Day 9 (30 Apr): Sacred Valley – Km 104 – Aguas Calientes

Winay Wayna

  • Pick up from the hotel early in the morning to board the train to Km 104 to begin the trek on the Inca Trail.
    • Distance of hike: 12km
  • Upon arrival, visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba.
  • Walk towards Winay Wayna and stop to visit this interesting and important Inca site.
  • Have lunch at “Trekker’s Lodge”.
  • Catch the first glimpse of Machu Picchu at Inti Punku (Sun Gate).
  • Take a bus down to Aguas Calientes followed by a short walk to our hotel.
  • Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 10 (01 May): Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco 

Machu Picchu

  • Early in the morning, have our breakfast and take a train followed by a bus transfer to the ruins of Machu Picchu before the crowd comes in.
  • Upon arrival, begin a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu including visits to the Sun Stone, Sun Temple and the Room of 3 Windows..
  • After the tour, free and easy and we may hike up to Huaynapicchu (optional), which overlooks Machu Picchu.
  • We may also visit Temple of the Moon which is on Huaynapicchu (optional).
  • In the afternoon, take a bus down to Aguas Calientes to board the train to Cusco.
  • Overnight in Cusco.

Day 11 (02 May): Cusco – Lima

  • Transfer from hotel to the airport of Cusco.
  • Domestic flight from Cusco to Lima.
  • Depart Lima for our international flight to Singapore, bringing back sweet memories of Peru and Machu Picchu that can last for a long time.
